About This Project

SRT was appointed to assess the structural condition of the existing South Terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport following the opening of the new airport. The project focused on evaluating the long-term condition of the existing foundations without excavation using advanced sensing-based technology.

A comprehensive structural assessment was performed to identify potential deterioration, evaluate foundation performance, and develop practical strengthening solutions while minimizing disruption to airport operations.

Scope of Work

  • Foundation condition assessment

  • Sensing-based structural testing

  • Structural load analysis

  • Finite Element (FE) modelling

  • Foundation strengthening design

  • Technical reporting and rehabilitation recommendations

Project Impact

  • Non-invasive evaluation of aging foundations

  • Reduced investigation cost and disruption

  • Accurate assessment using sensing technology

  • Long-term rehabilitation strategy for critical airport infrastructure
